Old folks rawk.

I was forced to an old folks home with BUBS near the subang airport. And i must say, these old people are one way or another very entertaining.

Firstly, every little old folks home has to have a rebel. A distinct old lady or man who will disobey orders, or do things their way. And these rebels will no fail prompt the caretakers to keep on yelling at them and they just wont listen. My great-grandma is a rebel in her o-f-home in m'cca until they had no choice but to tie her to her chair just in case she picks up a cleaver and starts snapping at the caretaker. She's done that before.

Jiar and i attended to this hainanese lady and she start relating her past stories to us like a maglev train. Worst thing was neither both of us could understand her language, so we just nodded and stared at her while she spoke with pretended interest, occasionally replying her with "em"s and "hai loh"s. It was comedic since she assumed we could understand, and the fact that she was entertaining us instead. Old people are funny.

Every home has its balance of happy chit-chatty and of course the small group of menopausers. Especially the old men, they just sit there and stare at the rest of us entertaining their female counterparts with the "why are you flirting with my woman" look. They may be old and wrinkly and saggy, but i tell you these old men are bastards. You kindly offer to strike a conversation and they start snorting like pigs. And they dont even aknowledge your presence. Some more give us the stupid look like we're being sexist.

My inability to converse in canton has hindered my chances to strike proper conversations but i still had fun nodding and play-pretending to understand. Plus i think its comforting to know you're not actually wasting your sunday morning.

And while i was doing something good, i noticed that xr and chucs were up early to blog. And to blog about 2005. I dont know if any of them couldve tapped into my mind resonance but i was thinking of the exact same thing last night. To do a pretty photoblog about 2005.

Now 2005 hasn't been exactly MY year like 2004 but undoubtly there are some things to certainly cherish and to know that some friendships have been even closely-knitted.

Especially mine with XueRou and Chucs.

I dont wanna sound corny but with these two, i just cant help it lah. Xr and chucs are like my kakis. All through 2004 and 2005. Big sisters. They're over at my place for bm tuitions on tuesday afternoons and then cny snacks after that. Chucs will sapu all my bak kua and xr will try to sapu whatever chucs cant.

Xr's supposed to get super super sticky glue at petaling street today to stick us slowly and gradually so by the end of high school we dont get split up. Lots of sayangs.

Of course, the progression of me and Emelia Tan.

Met in pn.molly's friday night science in 2004. Who knew we'd end up like this. Mlia, i really wanna tell you that you're... dayymmmnnn lame err. Loves. <3

The friendship with Jo, John, Vrillie, and Jin blossomed in 2005 as well.

John you're the only guy in it all and you should be really really proud of that fact. Haha. Jo may be whiny and irritating like a mosquito to the ear in the middle of the night, but she has helped me alot in many ways and i know who to depend on in times of need. Vril listens to me whine and is probably the only other member in a secret society that only know and are willing to join. Jin is a loser. Hah.

The highlights of MY 2005 play an equal role in shaping the whole year as well.

Ann turns 21.

Chia Sue Ann, eldest child of the Chia family turned 21 on the 2nd of May 2005.

My first campfire attendance.

I attended my first campfire representing the prefectorial board on the 25th of June 2005.

Winning the INTI College International Cultural Nite.

With our Puteri Santubong dance touted as probably the best Tmn SEA has to offer, the 2004 expedition group went on to win RM 400 on the 7th July 2005.

Winning the prestigious INTI College Drama Competition Title.

Beating drama pioneers such as St. John's Institute to bag the top winners of winners award, with the title Champion School Play and RM1200 at The Actor's Studio Bangsar on the 30th of June 2005. This probably the BIGGEST highlight of year 2005 for me.

Dad's 50th Birthday.

Old is gold. Dad turning half a century old on the 26th of August 2005.

Shanghai Trip.

Family and friends trip to Shanghai on the 30th of October 2005.

My surprise party.

Thank vril for this. I had my most memorable birthday so far on the 10th of november 2005.

Genting 2005!

Where the Genting Crew 05 was born. My first ever vacation with a bunch of crazy losers on the 6th of December 2005. And it'll take a superb vacation with chaffeur driven limos and sultan dining to challenge this trip. Love y'all!

Frasers Hill 2005.

The bi-annual family holiday vacation. Most of the time to Frasers Hill. This one's on the 24th December 2005.

Countdown 2006.

My first countdown party at Ikano Power Centre on the 31st of December 2005. Bye 2005, hello hot dog 2006.

So these are the things worth looking back to represent my year 2005. though not the best of years i've had but it was probably more memorable than any other by far.

Xr and chuc's year 2005 post looks amateur compared to mine. Hahaha.

You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say can, might and will be used against you in court.

First stop. CNY seems like a decade ago.
Sadly for you and shocking for me. I dont have any stories worth telling here. Everytime i lay my ass on this chair, it feels jinxed. Whatever shit that i've been thinking of earlier on and probably the days before, silent "i HAVE to get that in my blog"s. It all just dissappears. Every single fucking time i'm on this chair.

I personally put the blame on the half-dimmed study lights and bad air-circulation. It has escalated to the point where it renders me frustrated.

Thankfully, i managed to hang on to one particular issue that has plagued not only in our very own backyards but in the lawns of other countries. Racism.

The papers report racism as often as the sun rises and sets. We read it everyday. We comment on the self-centred traits of our other halves of the world. Not realising that the people around us are in some ways, masked racists. We sometimes have the tendency to make racist comments without ever realising, probably until bloodshed happens and when someone pulls out a handgun(parang in Malaysia). Then we may just then realise that we have severely slit the artery of one-ness. Bad blood boiling down its wounds. By that time, dont you think its too late to amend and patch things up?

In western countries, black and middle easterns are probably the most discriminated people in that world. Its everywhere, black people not granted equality in certain countries. The slave trade is pretty much still alive buried under the blanket of development. The nazi holocaust is a scary example of jewish mass murder. People then were killed not because they were prisoners of war or rebels. They were killed because they were jews. Talk about genocide is everywhere.

Sometimes we're hypocrites. We talk about our peer nations and their racism issues. But we ourselves are facing the same problems sometime somewhere around this country. Nike has reported of chalking up mega-sales of their stand up speak up wristbands in Malaysia alone. The intertwining black and white rubber bands that at one point of time stood for RM 120 a piece on our Malaysian shelves. Amidst the mad-dash and sky-rocket prices, people still dig into their wallets just to have a piece of this. Only because everyone has it and like sheep, we follow one another so we dont get left out, also for the fashion value, everyone looks blinging with jeans, a nice collage t-shirt with a cap and wristband. Probably every little alternate use except to identify so-and-so as one who is aware of racism and is in support of purging it. Most people think just because Thierry Henry and Rio Ferdinand wears that piece of latex on their wrists, they've got to have it. But what they dont know is the actual purpose of it that is to show you're anti-racism and you would do anything to incinerate it from everywhere you go.

Just to familiarise this post to most of you. We have racism issues even in our school. We learn about perpaduan masyarakat, and keharmonian sesama manusia. And i'm sure every teacher in this coountry has every right to stress that point to all students either academically, cocuricculum activities, or by indirect teaching. But what happens when the teachers themselves are racist?

I have teachers in my school who are notorious for being racist. Drawing complaints from teachers and students alike. Racist meaning they only pick on students of another race. Picking on students is already bad, these teachers would then further publicly humiliate or insult students for being their own race. I personally have not encountered anything like it, but after countless stories from SEVERAL people. It cant really be fake can it?

Whatever is really is, discrimination takes place every single fucking where.
I'm not saying its okay to play around, but know your limits in sensitive issues that may have the potential to spark a certain war and scare our pussy selves into another memorandum. Like me calling arvin an american black ass and him calling me a chinese ass hole, we laugh about it and no one gets hurt. There. Have fun but have it with the right dosage.

Racism sucks. Case closed.

Laying off from issues. A week ago, a bunch of us were at xr's for chap goh meh. We gambled like squirrels and john ended up sweeping RM35 playing in-between. Talk about "ong". For pictures, log on to xr's blog at http://shue-row.blogspot.com .

My wrist isnt getting any better and thank god i just ran out of anti-inflammatory pills (NUROFEN). People have been refering me to my new callname which is the buff, sexy ahemm ROBOCOP. I know my hand looks like some black bionical shit, but dont bite off more than you can chew and ask me to make some bitch robot moves. Its tiring okay. Hah. And to add to my woes, i've got a bad bad sunburn. Whoever praised the morning sun should try training under it one fine day. I did my high jump out in the open sun for 1 hour without scampering for shade. Now i've can feel the stinging sensation of the burn and i am now proned to laughter from the girls who can jump higher than me.

Bloody hell.

Triangular FibroCartilage Complex and Scapho-lunate Ligament tear. Brr.

Since people started asking me about my wrist, i've never had the opportunity to give a direct answer on what's wrong until today. I am finally enlightened of my injury. Triangular FibroCartilage Complex tear or TFCC tear is what sentenced me to months of nagging pain and shrinkwrapping my left wrist with super-tight wrist guards.

I'm sure this looks rather familiar on my left wrist almost everywhere i go.

Like the term kennysia uses. Dr. Chan zzzzzhhnnggggg-ed my wrist guard and transformed it into a bulky black brace. Now i look like robocop.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Triangular Fibrocartilage Complex (TFCC) Tears
The triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC) is a small meniscus resting on the ulnar or side of the wrist opposite the thumb. The complex serves as a site of connection of ligaments as well as a spacer or cushion between the carpal bones (wrist bones) and the end of the forearm. It is analogous to the meniscus within the knee and can be injured in a similar fashion when the complex is compressed and then a shearing force is applied to it. As the wrist is not a weight bearing joint, the discomfort and functional limitations are significantly less when a TFCC tear occurs than when a knee meniscal tear occurs.

TFCC tears, however, can be quite limiting in their effect for individuals participating in sports where significant wrist motion occurs and a forced grip is necessary. Activities such as swinging a baseball bat, many of the field events in track and field, throwing a ball of any type, and obviously all sports that involve loading of the wrist such as gymnastics can be affected. While many tears are symptomatic, it is not always the case and the incidence of TFCC tears is undoubtedly under-reported.

Causes
TFCC tears are normally caused by landing on the outstretched arm or by repetitive loading of the ulnar side of the wrist. Sometimes relatively minor trauma causes a tear to become symptomatic as it has previously been injured or compromised.

Symptoms
- Pain on ulnar side of wrist (pinkie side)
- Pain worse when hand is rotated away from the thumb
- Clicking or popping possible

Treatment
Non-operativeConservative measures such as rest and activity modification will lessen the pain of the tear. Simple measures such as this can often allow athletes to return to their sport though recurrence of the pain is common. Casting of the wrist (or splinting) to allow total rest is a more aggressive conservative measure and depending on the point-in-time of the season when the tear occurs, this may be appropriate care.

Alternative Treatment Options
- Glucosamine
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Non-steroidal Anti inflammatory Medications (NSAIDSs)

MRI scan of my left wrist. The orange arrow points to the white mass which is the Triangular FibroCartilage Complex tear.

This orange arrow points to the HUGE hollow space which is the Scapho-lunate Ligament tear and thankfully it is much much less serious and not causing any problems. YET.

An X-ray image of my left hand. Just for fun. :)

I dont know why i'm doing this but i'll do it anyway.

I'm aware of an ongoing feud between me and a few others who weren't invited to saturday's steamboat night.

So quit the nickname dissing and ignoring already. You think you deserve an apology, you get an apology. No reasoning whatsoever.

I apologise to (add your name here), that you weren't invited to my steamboat night. :)

But must you know that i didn't plan it and i abide to the rules set by the organizers of the night, mum, dad and granny.

If you feel that this apology is NOT sincere enough for someone like you, please contact or message me in any way possible and i'll gladly provide a verbal apology.

Yor ma(mum), one week pass so fast ar.

The new year holiday is a whole comfortable week but somehow it seemed surprisingly short. I can vaguely remember one week ago i was in Jalan Ong Kim Wee in m'cca eating satay celup for dinner.

And everything that i've been looking forward to the past whole week ended as fast as it came by. The gathering at xr's place on friday night. Steamboat at my place last night. I know all good things gave to come to an end, but YOU dont have to make time pass so fast when good things are happening, to be fair! Nabeh.

So anyway, the gathering at xr's was no worst than awesome. Partly because i was surprised again. These guys just love it, they love surprising poor innocent lay-men like me. And then they just love to see me with my jaws hanging from my skull and my eyes like marbles.

Mlia went back to penang abruptly on wednesday morning despite a movie outing later on because her granny fell sick. I was disappointed, but i understood her situation, nothing could be done. The consoling fact was she told me she'll be back the next day. And then her return kept getting postponed back and forth between thursday and friday. Then on friday, she postponed her return to saturday. Until on friday night, i went to xr's house after dinner and who do i see? Emelia Tan Gim Seet. All planned without my knowledge once again. Thanks xr, for the oh-so-pleasant surprise.

Then last night was my steamboat gathering to rival xr's NORMAL *yawn* gathering. Everyone who were at xr's the night before was here except li ying and brad. Li ying and chucs melebih already. About 10 of us squeezed to a plastic table and it seemed more like a family gathering. Then few of them had to go piss me off by messing my bed and watching the arsenal match. But it was all good. :) We had fun. And in the end, me, sanjay and jo were left playing "in between" until 1 am and jo lost almost 50 bucks to us. And we were all left wondering why the game was playing us instead. Especially john.

Been long since i posted some photos up here. I hate the wait when the photos get uploaded.

Chinese New Year 06.

Reunion dinner on new year's eve. The food is orgasmic!

This is only 1/25 of mum's side of the family. And we need 2 tables already.

The youngest of the 30+ cousins from mum's side. Lynn lazing in grandma's house.

Oscar all excited about chinese new year.

Dad showing mum some chinese new year love. :)

Family potrait 2006.

Rose among the thorns.

Paedophile in the making.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Xr's house gathering.

"Baby? What the hell are you doing here???" :)

Everyone sharing a hearty laugh at our home clown vindrabibi. Or was it erico? Or jay-jay?

Wah. Got stars! Chunted wey.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Steamboat gathering at my house.

Sarny, xr, john, mlia and half a face of me.

Casino royale. Sanjay Velan found guilty.

Mlia, xr and me tengah-tengah berchilling.

Until xr got caught in between the crossfire of lame insults. She bueh tahan.

Damn, she's spicy! Haha. Chin chia luak leh!

Mlia. My lazy babi.

Arrested. Sanjay pretending to blackout so he gets pardoned from the shaver. John and mlia with their chau ka. Smelly!

Family gathering. Steamboat session. Anything that makes me and ben not fail to notice the camera.

Last 3 standing. Jo, jay and me still going strong after being "played" by the game. As john claimed.

~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~

Tomorrown school start lor. No more fireworks to see, hear 360. No more gambling. No more cases of lau ah peks lodging report because their head kena shaved. No more steamboat and reunions for probably another tough year or so.

Balik sekolah looorrr.......... Fuck.

Honestly, i feel like the most underachieved underachiever in the family.

Jack of all trades, master of none. That's how you describe the eujinn in the Chia family. Remember how i shot myself in the feet the last time i said i'm left with the leftover genes from both my parents thus having a pair of mis-matched eyes? Lets get to the point. Every member of my family has an interesting and majestic story to look up to whenever they have the urge of feeling superior. We all know our parents are somehow still swimming in their own eras so lets not talk about them.

Big sis, ann was always known as the sperm who took every inch of brain development genes from wherever has it. Straight As student with a good set of vocabulary and public speaking nerves to accompany. She even featured in a saturday morning radio talkshow for winning a national level public speaking contest. Gold medal for some english paper that the university of new south wales set. Blah blah blah. And now she's in NU of S'pore which is ranked in the top 30 universities in the world. Talk about smarty pants.

2nd sis, lynn. Now now, all you adolescent guy readers out there might just know her too well. Or so you claim to. But being the underachiever, i'm also gonna be the bearer of bad news to inform every cassanova or big flirt or whoever who gets boners easily out there that my sister is NOT single. She has a boyfriend of err.. *counting* 4 years and his name's Simon. You know, the long haired guitarist from Media Puppets who were 1st runner up in last year's hitz.tv blast off. So if any of you think you might be able to sweep him off his throne, you gotta have long hair, performs in gigs, have dinner with my family, fetch me home from tuition, show you're boyfriend material and most importantly, I (speaking on behalf of family) MUST like you. Okay now unlike ann, lynn is the sperm who took all the A class genes and campur campur it inside the mixer until it became like marble cake. She's been approached by talent scouts, model agencies, and has appeared on tv and the papers, can sing, can dance, can drive very well, can talk very well, a pure-born social maestro.

And me, i wouldn't say i have the best of both worlds because that would sound very absurd. Lets just say i'm the sperm who (like alam flora) scooped up the genes that are scattered on the trail of the two earlier sperms. Yes, i have appeared on a commercial before, a commercial that got sent to china and my face wasn't even visible. I've been on the papers, either a candid shot that i so happen to appear in the background of the focus or group shots that the camera made almost everyone look the same. Socially, i told lots of stories in primary, story-telling competitions, poem recitation, never once, no matter how hard i practised in front of the mirror, never once i got the top prize. Cant sing, cant dance, cant drive (a car, not people crazy), I've joined countless clubs and picked up several instruments but i've never seriously pursued any. Intelligence wise, i think even paris hilton has a higher iq level. And the pmr results, i still think its pure luck, maybe some papers got mixed up, i'll never know, even my cousin who's in ahemm junior college in s'pore is still shamelessly reminding me how shocked he was when he heard of my pmr results. Though not very convincing, i think i've beaten myself up enough to cement my impression as an underachiever. Even my dog oscar is a celebrity now. The 42 year old virgin who's gradually turning she-male. Sigh.

Anyway, i went to the hospital today for the first time since i was admitted as a child. I wasn't greeted by the familiar aroma of over-sterilised utensils and bed-sheets like i used to. The hospital always smelt that way. But i was in the outpatient building of SJMC to see an orthopedist for the nagging pain in my left wrist. Dr. Chan the orthopedist recommended an x-ray and MRI scan which i would be taking in a week's time to determine the cause which is suspected to be a damage to the cartilage or joint. Killing two birds with one stone, i requested an examination of my right foot and revealed all the joints from the metatarsal to the 4 little toes are 80% loose and that includes 2 toes from my left foot too. Dr. Chan prescribed a method of taping my toes in a downward position everyday to strenghten my joints there. And he said it would be advisable to QUIT athletics. I wished sir was there to hear all of it. Hah.

Screw all the x-rays and metatarsals and cartilage problems and wasted sperms and garbage genes and all that. Where's my mlia?
